Diane Carmel Léger-Memramcok

Biography

I grew up in the Acadian village of Memramcook, New Brunswick. For 20 years I taught French Immersion in Victoria, British Columbia where homesickness led me to write my first novel, La butte à Pétard, which is considered an Acadian classic. I translated it to The Lookout Tree.  I also wrote and translated picture books such as Maxine’s Tree, a Canadian bestseller. I have returned to my village which continues to inspire me to write books for all ages such as the fantasy novel Les Acmaq tome 1 Le secret de la vieille Madouesse, winner of the Prix Antonine-Maillet Acadie Vie.
